About Augusta Rowers

About the Augusta Rowers

The St Ayles skiff is a four-oared rowing boat, inspired by the traditional Fair Isle skiff and designed by Iain Oughtred. These stable and seaworthy boats can be rowed by people of all ages and all levels of fitness.
St Ayles skiffs have been built by communities all over the world in an effort to bring people together, and
over 200 boats have been now been built worldwide. Our Augusta club joins a growing skiff community around Australia.

In 2019 our community began building two St Ayles rowing skiffs. The boat building has been generously supported by the community with wide community interest and involvement.
The skiffs were built by community volunteers and officially launched on 27 September 2020 with the names Colour Patch and Zoom.

We now regularly row Zoom and Colour Patch on the picturesque Blackwood River. This project has involved community members of all ages, fosters community spirit and provides a resource that strengthens the health of our community. Everyone is welcome to get involved.
